Ninth anniversary of the death of Nada Đurevska, a diva of Bosnian-Herzegovinian and regional theatre, is marked today. Đurevska passed away on 13 September 2017, leaving behind a rich legacy of film and stage work spanning some forty roles that audiences still remember for their masterful performances. Born in Mostar in 1932, Đurevska graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and began her career in the 1950s. Her film debut came with the movie "Konak" in 1958, and she went on to appear in over forty films including "Igman march", "The Scent of Quince", "From the Golden Apple", "My Brother Aleksa", "At Amidža Idriz" and "Well-Bred Dead Men". On stage, she was equally prolific, performing in dramas such as "Dangerous Hook", "They Came to Town", "The Inspector Has Arrived" and "A Glass of Beer". Her theatrical repertory also included comedies and essays, and she remained active in the cultural life of the country well into her later years. Đurevska was also known for her contributions to literature and translation. She authored essays on English comic figures, English romance, English humour and Dickens and his world, as well as works such as "Good Friends", "An English Journey" and "Midnight". Her literary and theatrical oeuvre earned her recognition as one of the most prominent actresses of her generation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ninth anniversary of her death is being observed by colleagues, cultural institutions and fans who remember her as a performer of rare depth and a guardian of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian theatrical tradition.
